My Film Festival Journey
Growing up between cultures, cinema became my bridge to language, identity, and community. I was born in Assam, Northeast India, to a Bengali mother and an Assamese father, and grew up navigating two languages and cultural identities. I learned Bengali largely through watching films, which made cinema not only a passion but also a means of accessing culture, language and belonging. This experience shaped my belief that film can create connections across communities and offer new ways of understanding identity, history and lived experience. It is also what continues to draw me towards cinemas and cultural institutions that champion diverse voices and encourage meaningful public engagement.

Film Festival Volunteer | UK Asian Film Festival | May 2026
• Supported guest liaison, workshops, red-carpet operations and audience-facing activities across multiple venues including BFI and Kiln Theatre.
• Contributed to a positive filmmaker and audience experience through effective event coordination.

• Evaluate narrative feature submissions and contribute programming recommendations.
